Donovan Group and Canadian Metal Buildings (CMB) partner to build state-of-the-art hangars at Brampton-Caledon Airport and a new manufacturing facility for LP Custom Machining in Ontario

Press Release (May 2025)

Donovan Group, a global designer and manufacturer of innovative construction technologies and solutions, and Canadian Metal Buildings (CMB), a leading Ontario-based building manufacturer and installer recognized for its innovative building solutions, are teaming up to construct four new hangars at Brampton-Caledon Airport and a new manufacturing facility for LP Custom Machining in Stoney Creek, Ontario. These two major projects are part of over a dozen joint developments to be launched across Canada over the coming year.

“We are proud to partner with Canadian Metal Buildings to bring these cutting-edge construction projects to life. In 2024, the CMB team selected and adopted our DonoBrace system as their standard bracing system and technology, said Oliver Foote, Chief Commercial Officer at Donovan Group. “Our technology is now part of all major construction projects led by CMB. This significant endorsement is a powerful testament to the unparalleled efficiency and robustness of DonoBrace.”

“We are looking forward to leading these two modern construction projects with the Donovan Group,” said Justin Bruzzese, Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Metal Buildings. “Our team is dedicated to transforming the steel building sector by offering our customers a comprehensive range of services spanning design, engineering, manufacturing and installation of pre-engineered metal building systems. We are proud to be one of the few North American companies that manufacture their own metal building systems and operate an in-house installation division.

Two major Ontario projects focus on creativity, great engineering and innovation

CMB and Donovan Group are ready to start the construction of four new hangars at the Brampton-Caledon Airport in the coming month. As part of its growth strategy, the airport aims to increase the number of flights transiting through its site. The new buildings will house private hangar spaces for aircraft operators. Keeping in mind the needs of its client, CMB developed user-friendly layouts to optimize space and provide easier access for pilots and ground crew. The DonoBrace bracing technology is essential to strengthen the structure of these buildings.

CMB has a long-standing relationship with LP Custom Machining. Construction work to expand the LP Custom Machining manufacturing and office space at its Stoney Creek facility started in January 2025 and should be completed by the end of the year. This project features a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) structure combined with a conventional structural steel office front – all manufactured, supplied, and erected by CMB. This project is unique, as it encompasses both a PEMB and a conventional structural-steel design. The PEMB utilizes DonoBrace as its bracing system to withstand high-loading requirements.

CMB uses both virtual and augmented reality to improve the design and planning stages of these projects, enabling clients to visualize the final product before work begins. This forward-thinking approach is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to challenge the status quo and find new solutions.

Looking ahead to 2025, CMB and Donovan Group are set for a bright future together. They have a healthy pipeline of work and a clear roadmap for the next several years. CMB has already been involved in some high-profile projects, including working with a Fortune 500 company. “We’re aiming for substantial growth and a greater presence across Canada and the United States. Our company has achieved an impressive annual growth of 35%, consistently hitting its planned milestones year after year,” said CMB’s Mr. Bruzzese.

DonoBrace’s unique technology proven efficient on Canadian buildings

“We are proud to be working with CMB to bring the DonoBrace system to Canada,” said Donovan Group’s Mr. Foote. “This will provide manufacturers, engineers, builders, contractors and developers with a stronger, faster, and easier alternative to traditional bracing systems. The Donovan Group invests sustainably in R&D to develop innovative solutions that align with the needs of the industry. We strive to develop products that simplify the process of designing, manufacturing and erecting metal buildings for everyone.”.

DonoBrace offers an optimal and efficient bracing solution, helping to streamline the planning, manufacturing, and installation processes. The patented DonoBrace is the tension-only rod system that combines clever engineering with usability to provide a lighter, more cost-effective bracing solution. The high-capacity bracing system has been independently tested to ensure that it meets the requirements of the Canadian building code.

Builders using DonoBrace have reported dramatic time and cost savings on site compared with traditional bracing methods thanks to its optimized design. According to customers, DonoBrace has saved up to 60% on project bracing costs.

“With efficiency and standardization at the forefront of construction developments, DonoBrace is offering a faster, more streamlined process for designing, fabricating and installing a necessary structural component for metal buildings,” said Mr. Bruzzese.

As part of its expansion strategy, Donovan Group is currently in discussions with major North American construction organizations. The company is a construction market leader in New Zealand and is establishing a growing presence in Australia and in North America.
