DonoBrace is a tension-only rod bracing system designed to make on-site installation easier and more efficient.
As a standardised system, DonoBrace doesn’t require welding, off site fabrication, or painting. That means it arrives ready to cut and install. No extensive temporary bracing system, no epoxies, no torque bolts (TB bolts).
If you’re new to tension bracing, or to the DonoBrace system, here are our 5 top tips to ensure a quick and easy installation process.
#1 Portal legs do not need to be perfectly plumbed prior it installation
Traditional systems usually require extensive temporary bracing to get eh portal legs perfectly plumb and the components lined up to be millimeter perfect. This extra work is unnecessary with DonoBrace, which is designed to be tensioned in place.
DonoBrace doesn’t include long rigid lengths. That means you don’t have to worry about precisely fitting, cutting or reworking the lengths of the system.
#2 Work in twos rather than fours
While most traditional bracing systems require four or even five people to get the job done right, DonoBrace is specifically designed for easy installation with just one or two professionals.
The system is set up for convenient one-end installation. You’ll see that the nuts have a serrated edge, meaning that you only have to tighten the fastenings from one side.
The bottom line? The quickest way to install DonoBrace is with two people. Both sides of the system can be placed at the same time, and tightened at each end by just one person.
#3 Keep the connection sets in their bags until you’re ready to install
When DonoBrace arrives on site, you’ll notice that each connection set is separately bagged with the required bolts, nuts and washers. This is to help keep the elements organised and ensure they are easy to locate.
Once you’ve cut the lengths to size and measured the span distance before cutting the tie rod, you’ll be ready to open one connection set at a time to prepare the system for installation.
#4 Follow the installation guide and reference this video
DonoBrace has been designed to make the installation process simpler and quicker. Watch the above installation video or download and read our installation guide document to ensure that the system is set up correctly.
#5 Don’t worry about using epoxies
The closed coupler is designed with an added inspection hole and pin. This allows you to manually check that the bar is correctly placed in the closed coupler, and means you can avoid having to use epoxy to seal the connection.
When it comes time to check the system, be sure to:
- Ensure the fastenings are snug tight
- Check the bar placement in the closed coupler using the inspection hole and pin
- Ensure you’ve eliminated any slack in the system
You’ll notice that DonoBrace is relatively straightforward and efficient to sign off on site. The system doesn’t require TB bolts, which means that torque checks aren’t required during the sign off process. Instead, spring washers ensure extra tension and hold for the system. This is to help improve effectiveness while also cutting out time-intensive processes on site.
